The deal to buy and renovate 55 Public Square in downtown Cleveland is off. In a report on,, K&D Group CEO Doug Price confirmed his company has walked away from the planned purchase of the property. "We did decide to pass on it last week," Price said of the 22-story tower, which K&D had hoped to renovate and fill with a mix of offices and apartments. "It is just not workable for us. I really can't get into details." As was reported in late May, the company saw 55 Public Square as a mixed-use project, with the second through 11th floors marked to become 150 apartments after K&D consolidates office tenants upstairs. The largest tenants in the building are First National Bank, on the 14th floor, and Law Offices of Cleveland, which rents space to attorneys and small law firms, on the 21st floor.
