University Hospitals has purchased the Andover Health Center freestanding emergency department from Mercy Health. The change in ownership and the transition to University Hospitals will be effective May 1. Emergency care, including laboratory and imaging, as well as walk-in lab, X-ray and CT services will continue uninterrupted during the transition. The approximately 30 Mercy Health employees at the facility will become UH employees May 1. University Hospitals will invest more than $300,000 in renovating the nearly 8,000 square foot Andover building, furnishings, medical equipment and information technology. UH does not have plans to expand capacity beyond the current five beds.
