Valmark Financial Group and Sequoia Financial Group announced plans this week to form a joint venture. Long Road Risk Management Services LLC intends to utilize the combined skills and expertise of the two Akron-based companies to redefine the experience clients have safeguarding their wealth and managing their life insurance policies. The joint venture will be led by Craig Welch, a 16-year insurance industry veteran who began his career at Valmark where he served as a consultant to more than 40 advisers in 18 states as director of insurance services. For the last seven years, he worked for Key Private Bank’s insurance group as a national specialist. “Long Road will allow advisers to put in place active, ongoing policy monitoring and management services for their clients' policies, even for those policies they did not originally design and implement,” said Welch, who will serve as president at Long Road.
