Phillip Scotton

Phillip Scotton is a dynamic leader and entrepreneur, serving as Chief Operating Officer and partner at PRIMO Partners- the nation’s largest Black-owned multi-unit franchise developer of Ben & Jerry’s. A proud University of North Carolina alum, Scotton co-founded the groundbreaking Pathway to Leadership Internship program in 2012, paving the way for future industry leaders. By 2016, he transitioned into a full-time operator, spearheading PRIMO’s rapid expansion, driving double-digit sales growth, and securing the top global ranking for Ben & Jerry’s.

Under his leadership, PRIMO has grown to over 23 locations across the Southeast, with a mission-driven focus on racial and socioeconomic equity, community engagement, and staff development. Beyond franchising, Scotton is an active real estate developer near North Carolina’s Haw River, the chairman of a mental health non-profit known as Eustress Inc., and a dedicated advocate for small business growth. His industry influence extends to his past role as Vice Chair of Ben & Jerry’s Franchisee Advisory Council, and in 2024, he was honored as Franchise of the Year, a testament to his impact and innovation in the field.
