Joel Smyer

Joel Smyer serves as the founding President and General Counsel for the National Christian Foundation North Texas. Before helping launch the Foundation, Joel practiced in various areas of business and civil litigation in his founding partner role with Anderson, Smyer and Riddle, a Fort Worth-based law firm. Since leaving the law firm in the summer of 2008 to help launch NCF North Texas, Joel has focused his charitable giving specialty on complex asset-based giving. This has allowed Joel to serve as a thought partner to hundreds of families who integrate charitable giving into their business exit, estate, and succession planning. Joel graduated from Baylor University and Baylor University School of Law, and he serves families as a Certified Exit Planning Advisor. He is married to Laura, and together, they are the parents of six young adult children.
