After Harvard Business School, Steve began a career as a consultant with McKinsey. He then received a White House Fellowship and subsequently became a member of President Ford’s senior White House staff. After his time at the White House, he began a career in investment banking, eventually becoming Chairman and CEO of Boettcher and Company, a regional investment banking firm in Denver
After a purchase by Kemper Financial, he became Head of International Development and eventually became President of Kemper Securities comprised of 8 regional firms. Steve co-led a management & employee buyout establishing EVEREN Securities which after becoming a public firm was sold to First Union.
Steve has engaged in numerous corporate and community activities, including chairing the Greater Denver Corporation leading business community support of Denver International Airport and other infrastructure projects. Chaired the Denver Sports Commission and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and served as a board member of the Denver School of Science and Technology.
Steve additionally co-founded Iron Gate Capital, a private equity firm, and served on several corporate boards including IMA Financial, Guaranty Bank, First Western Trust Bank, ProLogis/Macquarie JV and Empower Mutual Funds.
