Silas Deane, most recently served as Vice President of Tyler Technologies (NYSE:TYL) after his most recent start-up, VendEngine - a leading govtech/fintech company, was acquired in 2021 by Tyler in a deal the Nashville Business Journal labeled as the largest technology deal in Nashville’s history. Deane, a long-time fixture in Nashville’s technology scene was one of Nashville’s first .com entrepreneurs and was a Founding Member of the Nashville Technology Council, where he has also served on the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors for many years. Silas founded Logic Media Group, a tech-focused communications firm that became one of the top PR & Marketing firms in the Southeast and later founded Baden Bath, Inc., a high-end bath fixture company; both were later sold. Deane also started multiple other ventures including Vertical Supply, Capitol Partners and Deane, Smith & Partners.
Early in his career, Silas worked on the staffs of both Senator Al Gore, Jr. and U.S. Representative Bob Clement in Washington, DC for many years, where he was named as the Advance Director and spokesperson for the 200th Anniversary nation-wide tour of the U.S. Bill of Rights. He later served as Executive Director of the International Microelectronics Foundation and Editor-in-Chief of Advancing Microelectronics magazine.
Among many awards, Deane was recently named to the University of Kentucky Business Hall of Fame and was also a previous Smart DealMaker of the Year award winner in 2022. He holds a Master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. in Economics from the University of Kentucky. He is currently serving as the Chairman for the Von Allmen Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of KY, Board Chairman of the AIM-Hi Accelerator Fund and on the Board of the National Foundation for Cancer Research in Washington, DC.
