Joan Carter

Throughout her career, Carter helped build UM Holdings, a private company that has owned and operated businesses across industries ranging from health care services and commercial fitness equipment to contract research. Alongside her husband and business partner, John Aglialoro, she established a record of successfully buying, operating and selling companies.

Beyond business, Carter has held prominent leadership roles throughout the Philadelphia community. She is a former chair of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia and previously served as a trustee of Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company and director of CarrAmerica. Carter also made history as the first woman to serve as president of the Union League of Philadelphia in its 150-year history. Today, she remains active in philanthropic and civic organizations, continuing a career defined by entrepreneurship, leadership and community engagement.

 

Richard Horowitz

Horowitz has built a distinguished career spanning private equity, venture investing and law. At RAF Equity, he provides expertise in operations, strategy and acquisitions while overseeing the firm’s venture investments. At RAF Equity, he has led over thirty platform acquisitions of middle market companies, as well as a far greater number of add-on acquisitions. Rick has also been an investor in and director for a number of early-stage businesses. Beyond his work with numerous companies, he has maintained a strong commitment to the Philadelphia community through leadership roles with the Children’s Crisis Treatment Center, the Wistar Institute and the University of Pennsylvania’s Netter Center for Community Partnerships. Horowitz earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School and his bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, in Economics and Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania.

Since the acquisition, Raymond has continued leading Careerminds as president while playing a central role in its acquisition and growth strategy. He has helped lead the acquisition and integration of more than 8 companies with combined revenues exceeding $100 million, significantly expanding Careerminds’ global footprint and capabilities. Beyond Careerminds, Raymond mentors emerging entrepreneurs throughout the Philadelphia region, sharing his experience in raising capital, scaling businesses and navigating the opportunities and challenges that come with building successful companies.
