Pittsburgh PE firm 3 Rivers Capital has acquired Interlight, a family-owned and operated online distributor of specialty and replacement products that focuses on rare, hard-to-find light bulbs and batteries. 3RC will work to build on the value of the company, which is headquartered outside of Chicago, by collaborating with Interlight’s current management team that’s comprised of the founder’s three sons who have been the catalyst to the company’s most recent growth.

Interlight is a provider of one of the largest inventories of specialty lightbulbs in the world and helps fulfill the lighting needs of clients such as Apple, Lockheed Martin, NASA and SpaceX, as well as medical institutions all over the country.

The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

“We were initially attracted to the strong value proposition Interlight brings to its customers and their commitment to providing the largest selection of specialty lighting products, best-in-class customer service, and same-day shipping,” 3RC Partner and Co-Founder Dale Buckwalter said, in a statement. “We’re excited to back an outstanding management team that has excelled in the e-commerce space and we look forward to a successful partnership and continued growth.”

3RC has also hired Jeffry Graham, a 20-year e-commerce veteran, as CEO to help unlock the untapped potential in Interlight.

Metz Lewis Brodman Must O’Keefe LLC served as legal counsel to 3RC.
