The assets of Pittsburgh-based startup Containership, which utilizes Kubernetes, the open source container management technology developed by Google, have been acquired by Hitachi Vantara, an information technology and services firm in Santa Clara, California.
Containership was founded in 2014 as a service to help businesses move their containerized workloads between clouds, Tech Crunch reports. Later, it focused solely on Kubernetes and helping enterprises manage their Kubernetes infrastructure.
The deals of the transaction were not disclosed, but the Pittsburgh startup only raised about $2.6 million through investors like Birchmere Ventures, Draper Triangle and Innovation Works, according to Tech Crunch.
