Indiana County-based PHOENIX Rehabilitation and Health Services has acquired Black Mountain Physical Therapy, which becomes the company’s 100th location in the U.S. The transaction will allow PHOENIX to serve residents in the Black Mountain, Asheville and Swannonoa Valley areas.

PHOENIX was sold by Pittsburgh PE firm 3 Rivers Capital in December 2018, to Boston’s Audax Private Equity. 3 Rivers Capital first invested in Phoenix in 2013.

PHOENIX has locations in Alabama, Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, and Washington D.C., which serve its customers’ needs for physical therapy, occupational therapy and workplace health services.

Clifford Shulman, who has led Black Mountain PT for 11 years, will continue to lead the operation and the company will continue to offer physical therapy services and accept all major insurers.

“We are excited to add a facility with a dedicated team and a proven track record of exceeding the expectations of their patients,” PHOENIX COO Dave Angelo said, in a statement. “Cliff and his team bring the expertise and experience that matches what PHOENIX offers at all our locations.”
