Columbus city leaders are calling for $140 million in public money, including funding from the city, Franklin County and the state of Ohio, for a new soccer stadium in the Arena District. That figure is up from estimates of about $115 million, WOSU public radio reports.

The aspirational plan also states not all the land needed for development has been obtained, but the parties involved hope to do so by a funding date of Aug. 15, 2019, according to WOSU.

The city, county, and developer Crew SC Stadium Company expect to form an authority to oversee the new stadium and redevelop the current stadium into a multi-use sports complex.

The agreement’s schedule lists a “stadium substantial completion” date of July 1, 2021. The scheduled completion date for the first phase of the redevelopment of Mapfre Stadium is June 30, 2022.
