Westerville’s Nikola Labs LLC has raised $4.45 million in venture funding from Break Trail Ventures, Cyprus-based JibJigger R and other undisclosed investors. Break Trail Ventures is an early-stage venture fund based in Columbus and Boulder, Colorado.

Nikola is working to advance wireless power into the marketplace. The company, which was founded in 2014, converts radio frequency (RF) energy into direct current (DC) power. It has partnered with The Ohio State University, Skyworks, Texas Instruments and Ansys, is a portfolio company of Ikove Capital Partners, and is based out of The Point at Otterbein University.

Nikola CEO and co-founder Will Zell has founded three technology companies in addition to building successful real estate and retail ventures over the past nine years.
