North Coast Container acquired by Portland-based General Steel Drum

Cleveland-based North Coast Container has been acquired by Portland, Oregon’s General Steel Drum LLC. Kyle Stavig, CEO of General Steel Drum, Myers Container LLC and Container Management Services LLC, said in a statement, “The Beardsley and Stavig families have been friends for generations. This transaction is good for North Coast, good for our customers, and good for the Stavigs’ container businesses that, collectively, now have the ability to service customers across the country.” James Beardsley, chairman and CEO of North Coast Container, will retain a leadership position at NCC, serving as senior executive vice president, and serve on the board of directors. The company will operate as North Coast Container LLC. “We are very proud of the business our family created and we decided it was time to join forces with a fellow multi-generation family business — especially one that has been around for over 100 years. There are significant growth opportunities in the newly combined organization with GSD for our customers, suppliers and our employees,” Beardsley said in a statement.
