Squire Patton Boggs expanded its cybersecurity and data privacy law practice by acquiring Yarbrough Law Group of Dallas. Matt Yarbrough joins Squire as a partner, bringing a wealth of experience as a prosecutor of cybercrime. As an Assistant U.S. Attorney with the Department of Justice in the Northern District of Texas, Yarbrough led the first Cybercrimes and Criminal Intellectual Property Task Force there and prosecuted major cyber-attack cases, including the first data intercept of a hacker ring in U.S. history, known as the “Phonemasters” case. He was appointed as Special Counsel to assist in the creation of the Texas Internet Bureau, the first regional forensics lab of its kind for the FBI and state law enforcement, to fight identity theft, internet fraud and data breaches. Yarbrough, an internationally recognized expert, has appeared on numerous national television programs as an expert and authored dozens of articles on developments in cyber law. He had turned down a number of offers before joining forces with Squire. According to the firm, this is another in a series of notable additions to its cybersecurity and data privacy practice.
