Akron-based wealth management firm Sequoia Financial Group is merging with LJPR Financial Advisors, a fee-only financial adviser and wealth management firm headquartered in Troy, Mich.

"This merger provides greater growth and innovative services to our clients, employees and partners, thus building a sustainable firm that can outlast any individual leader.”

Leon LaBrecque, managing partner and CEO of LJPR Financial Advisors, said in a statement, “Tom and I are thrilled that our combined team will have the capacity and resources that allow us to continue that legacy and even to expand upon it, making us better together.”

LaBrecque will transition from managing partner and CEO of LJPR Financial Advisors to chief growth officer of Sequoia Financial Group.

Tom Haught will continue as president of Sequoia Financial Group. With this merger, Sequoia Financial Group’s staff will grow from 66 to 91 employees.
