Spray Products Corp. has acquired the former Valspar/Plasti-Kote facility in Medina. It plans to have distribution up and running by April with manufacturing following in May, according to a report.

The Akron Beacon Journal, via Ohio.com, reports that the Pennsylvania-based aerosol and liquid packaging services company is taking over the 270,000-square-foot facility that had been empty since 2016.

Spray Products has committed to creating 40 new positions with a goal of reaching 100 employees in the near future. The company had some help from state and county agencies, according to the newspaper report, including a $750,000 building improvements grant and a Phase II Environmental Assessment grant from JobsOhio, financing through a $5.5 million bond from Summit County’s Development Finance Authority, a $40,000 grant from Medina and a $52,000 grant from the Ohio Rail Commission.

Spray Products will be a part of the city’s rail consortium.
