The Riverside Company, a global private investor focused on the smaller end of the middle market, has invested in Sir Grout, a provider of grout, tile and other hard surface restoration services for residential and commercial customers. This is an add-on investment to Riverside’s platform, Threshold Brands, a multi-brand franchisor of trade services concepts. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 2004 and based in Cumming, Georgia, Sir Grout provides a variety of grout and tile restoration services, including stone restoration, surface coatings and sandless hardwood refinishing, operated by 45 franchise locations across 16 states.

“We’re thrilled to add another company to our Threshold Brands platform,” said Riverside Managing Partner Loren Schlachet. “With Sir Grout’s expansive knowledge in hard surface restoration services, we believe that the company’s high-quality materials and top-level service will have unparalleled benefits to the platform.”

Riverside has invested in several successful franchise companies, growing them through operating expertise and strategic add-ons. Led by an experienced senior advisor, the Riverside Franchising Specialization team seeks to source and integrate add-on opportunities, drive growth and capture potential. Sir Grout represents the seventh company added to the Threshold platform, having acquired Plumbing Heating Paramedics in June of this year.

“As we continue to expand our work with franchisors, we are looking for strong companies who work to provide the best to their franchise partners and customers,” said Riverside Senior Partner Brian Sauer. “As part of the Threshold Brands team, Sir Grout will allow the company to expand into the hard surface restoration market.”

Working with Schlachet and Sauer on the deal for Riverside were Principal Steve Rice, Senior Associate Caroline Peck, Associate Sarah Jensen, Operating Partner Ervin Cash and Finance Director Mark Cohen. Principal, Origination, Cheryl Strom and Vice President, Origination, Stephen O’Hara sourced the deal for Riverside.
