Marcum LLP and Skoda Minotti have agreed to merge. New York-based Marcum will add 31 partners, more than 190 associates and four offices to its Midwest and Florida regions. Skoda Minotti Co-Founder and Chairman Gregory J. Skoda, CPA, will join Marcum as senior partner and become a member of the firm’s executive committee.

The deal was first reported last week.

Skoda Minotti offers a full suite of accounting, audit and tax services, financial services and business advisory services including risk advisory, IT, strategic marketing, HR services, talent acquisition, valuation and litigation support. The firm services clients nationally and internationally through its offices in Cleveland, Akron and Tampa and its virtual employees based around the country.

The addition of Skoda Minotti’s talent, industry expertise, breadth of services and sophistication in delivery is expected to provide Marcum’s clients additional geographic reach, a wider range of expertise, service offerings and improved client experience. Specifically, this deal is intended to help Marcum expand its Midwest region outside of the Chicago area and add another office strategically located in Florida. Skoda Minotti’s national practices in risk advisory, strategic marketing, transaction advisory and management consulting expand Marcum’s services. Marcum expects to gain additional expertise primarily concentrated in the real estate, construction, manufacturing and distribution, professional services and healthcare sectors.

“Skoda Minotti expands Marcum’s service capabilities and critical mass in the strategically important Midwest and Florida regions of the country,” Marcum Chairman and CEO Jeffrey M. Weiner said in a statement. “Their core values of teamwork and innovation strongly parallel Marcum’s, providing a highly synergistic start for our new relationship. In addition, like Marcum, Skoda Minotti has a long history of entrepreneurship, both in its commitment to being an integral contributor to its clients’ success and in evolving its own business model. Skoda Minotti brings a deep bench of talent and experience to Marcum and will be an intrinsic part of our continued growth and success.”

Gregory J. Skoda added: “Marcum’s entrepreneurial focus, commitment to client success and leadership in the accounting and advisory industries are an extension of Skoda Minotti’s legacy to our clients and our team. The synergies between our firms provide a strong foundation for our continued mutual success and growth.” Marcum’s new Akron office will be led by Christopher G. Sivak, CPA, and the Tampa office will be led by Daniel E. Dowell, CPA. Danielle B. Gisondo, CPA, will lead the firm’s Cleveland East office and Jonathan J. Shoop, CPA, will lead the new Downtown Cleveland office when it opens in January 2020. Skoda Minotti’s Patrick T. Carney will join Marcum as COO of Marcum’s Midwest Region.
